Elephants take on The Rangers

Posted in:

The mighty ElephantsThe RangersFriday afternoon saw the first clash between new boys The Rangers from the diamond mining town of Dvokolwako and the Elephants from Luve. The game took place at the Emcozini Sports ground home of the Elephants. The Rangers joined the Swazi Rugby family in August and had their first taste of Rugby playing in the Adult Tag Tournament played earlier in September. Friday was their first outing at fifteens.

The Elephants who have been training and playing regular Rugby at both fifteens and sevens started the game brimming with confidence. The Rangers took to the field looking uneasy but soon got into the game. Both teams ran the ball from every part of the field, both teams defence held but the Elephants were to strong for the Rangers in the first half and went into the break 30 - 0 up. Hard talking from Rangers coach Simanga Magagula did the trick for the Rangers as they ran in three quick tries at the start of the second half. However it was the Elephants experience which came through in the end. The final score was Elephants 45 - Rangers 20.
