Posted in:

The town of Piggs Peak in the north of Swaziland played host to the first day of the SKRUM/Swaziland Rugby Roadshow.  The Roadshow which will be held in nine venue's over the next seventeen days was the brain child of new Rugby Coach, Naomi du Pont.  "Naomi who will be joining the Rugby Coaching Team in the New Year came to me with the Rugby Roadshow proposal and it seemed too good to be true" said Rugby Union President and SKRUM Programme CEO, Michael Collinson.

We discussed the logistics and possible participant numbers and Naomi convinced the Rugby Union that it can and will work.  As yet we have not introduced Rugby into schools in the north, but having heard from Naomi today the youngsters up in Piggs Peak have certainly heard about and want to play the game of Rugby" said Collinson.

The venue's for the Rugby Roadshow are as follows: Day 1, Piggs Peak.  Days 2 & 3, Mhlangatane in the northeast.  Days 4 & 5, Likima near the Mjoli Dam.  Day 6, Bhekinkhosi, near Nkilyi.  Days 7 & 8 Ngwazini.  Days 9, 10 & 11 in the town of Siteki.  Nhlangano in the south will host the Roadshow on days 12, 13 & 14.  Day 15, will be in the capital, Mbabane at the SOS Childrens Village.  Day 16, Lobamba and finally, day 17 will be the end of the Raodshow and the last Coaching Day will be in Malkerns at the Vondo's Rugby Club ground.
