Elephants take home win

Posted in:

Elephants on the attackFriday afternoon was to see the mighty Elephants from Luve take on the Lions from Mliba.  This was the first time these two teams have met since the split of the Elephants Rugby Club and the newly formed Mliba Lions came into being.  President and Coach of the Elephants welcomed the Lions team to Luve and gave an even bigger welcome to ex Elephants Coach and now Coach of the Lions Zakele Zondo.

The game kicked off in hot dry windy conditions which made for few handling errors by either side.  The Lions drew first blood with two quick and easy tries by the speedster winger.  Half time saw the Lions 10-0 ahead.  The second half started no better for the Elephants as the Lions ran in two more tries from mistakes made by the Elephants forwards.  Te last fifteen minutes of the game the Elephants seemed to come alive and it was all Elephants game from there.  Good ball handling skills and hard running saw the Elephants run in five tries and end he game 25-20 victors.  Moscow Dlamini thanke the Lions for making the trip to Luve and said it could of been either sides game.  He also lamented the poor kicking from both sides with not one kick going between the posts.Lions on the breakTry time ElephantsLions player hitting the gap
