St Andrew's player Mandisa Mndzebele going for the try lineThe Vondo's Rugby Club in Malkerns saw two of their Primary Schools go head to head on Friday with St Andrews Primary taking on local rivals Malkerns Valley Primary.  The weather wasn't too kind with a very cold wind a rain welcoming the players, but this didn't deter the young players.

The first game kicked off with the girls playing at 1pm, St Andrews opened the scoring with a try within the first minute which brought their over one hundred supporters to their feet and that was to be the only score in the first half.  The rain came down in the second half which made the ball a little dicey to handle.  The handling errors slowed the game down, but marvellous individual play by the Malkerns Valley wingers saw them go over the try line three times to end the game 15-5 to Malkerns Valley.

The weather didn't improve much for the boys game, which saw plenty of running but not much scoring.  Malkerns Valley ran in the first try with speedster, Nhlakanipho Khumalo running in a marvellous try from his own try line.  Halftime saw the score at 5-0 to Malkerns Valley.  The second half was a copy of the first with both teams attacking, but handling errors making for no tries.  In the last three minutes of the game, the St Andrews team seemed to come alive after scoring a try and then running in a second try from the kick off to win the game 10-5.  The two winning sides also received a donation of a full Rugby kit from the SOSIRBKitaid Programme.
