Following a National Team training session held on Saturday morning at the UNISWA sports ground in Kwaluseni, the players made the long drive down to the Hlane Game Reserve to pick up litter along the highway which cuts through the reserve.
All the players from the national training squad volunteered to take part in the litter collection initiative. SRU President, Michael Collinson said "The SRU were looking to get Sizeze Eswatini involved in a community project of some kind and as the national side already help out with the SKRUM Programme, I looked at an alternative project. After much thinking and discussion I came up with the litter collecting idea. After speaking with Michael Richardson from Big Game Parks who thought it was a marvellous idea it was easy to get the idea off the ground. Litter is a big problem and with so many tourists visiting the game parks within Swaziland, we thought it would not only help Hlane Game Reserve and the surrounding communities, but also help with tourism within Swaziland. I must say a huge thank you to all twenty players whole volunteered to go down to Hlane and pick up litter for a full day. A second thank you must go to Michael Richardson and everyone at Big Game Parks for their hospitalityduring the day and on the Saturday night during the team building session held at Hlane Game Reserve. I'm pleased to announce that this will not be the first or last time we undertake the litter collection with Big Game Parks, on December 7th we willbe collecting litter around the Mlilwane Game Reserve with the national training squad again in action" added Collinson.
